Oregon’s saving 1.5m annually by chosing Google Apps

The Department of Education in Oregan has been hit hard with budget cuts but chose that technology didn’t have to suffer by switching to Google Apps. All of the Staff and Students in Oregon will have access to all of the tools within Google Apps for Education including Gmail, Docs, Sites, Video, Groups and more. This allows the students and educators to collaborate in new ways to achieve new heights. Being able to work side-by-side within Google Docs and discuss ideas and concepts in depth through Google Groups opens up opportunities not previously available.
The originating post from Google Blog states that Oregon is the first state that has switched to Google Apps for Education across all their public schools.
Who is going to be the next? This is an exciting time for Educators and Students as they get to work with real productivity tools that will follow them into the business world.
